The Rajarhat New Town is now the heartthrob of Kolkata. In this place, many tourists attractions are built like Aquatica, Eco park 7 wonders , and axis mall Snow Park etc. and now the latest attraction is Biswa Bangla Gate Kolkata NewTown. Now it’s opened for all, from the same day of the kolkata Book Fair inauguration 2019.

The kolkata gate opening date is 31 January 2019. The Hanging restaurant in Biswa Bangla Gate Kolkata New Town is like a gateway of Kolkata. Kolkata gate is Like the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the London Eye in London. I hope it will be the biggest tourist attraction in future.

Biswa Bangla gate design was published to the public in 2015. The construction of the gate started on 6th March 2017. The building is being constructed by 70 tons of steel. The total cost of construction of this gate is 25 cores. It is a new project of West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO).

This gate is about 55 meters high. A narrow tunnel made for visitors will be about 25 meters above the ground. There are 2 dedicated elevators which carry the visitors into the tunnel.

The sunset view from the tunnel mesmerizes you. The circle-shaped area hangs over the four pillars of the gate. The circle is covered with the glass. A clear view of Newtown and Kolkata can be seen in the glasses. The outer part of the entire tunnel covered with lights. The inner part of the tunnel is fully air-conditioned. At the top of the gate, a logo is placed of Biswa Bangla.

Kolkata gate is situated near Narkel Bagan crossing at Newtown, Rajarhat, West
Bengal in India. Biswa Bangla gate is being constructed on the way of the airport, New Town, Rajarhat. The Kolkata gate is opposite to the Rabindra Tirtha and 15 minutes from ECO Park.

My Holiday Story about Kolkata gate The hanging restaurant

When I planned for Kolkata gate, I book my ticket from book my show and I select 5:00 pm time slot. I started my journey from ruby EM bypass and reached salt lake college more and then changed another bus to reach Narkel Bagan.  I reached Kolkata gate earlier and visit Rabindra Tirtha, which is opposite of the Biswa Bangla gate.

Special tips

If you come for the ECO-park, at the time plan for Kolkata gate also. Visit Kolkata Gate while returning from Eco park. Or if you only come to visit Biswa Bangla Kolkata gate than come at least 1 hour before and visit Rabindra Tirtha. Which is opposite of the Kolkata Gate. It will take half an hour to 45 minutes.

Need a ticket for Kolkata Biswa Bangla gate?

Direct ticket booking is not available. You should book the ticket online .
Tickets are available in Book My Show or HIDCO website. After an initial booking, a QR code will be generated. After receiving the confirmation show the receipt on the Biswa Bangla ticket counter and get the proper ticket for Kolkata gate. An entry pass will be handed over to the visitor.

The ticket price is 100 rupees per head and the services charge is extra. It’s free for children below 3 years. Book your ticket with your desired date and pick a time slot between 12 noon to 5 pm with a one-hour interval. The time slots are–12.00 noon, 1.00 pm, 2.00 pm, 3.00 pm, 4.00 pm, and 5.00 pm. The maximum you can spend 45 minutes inside the tunnel.
If you have a backpack or lodges, keep those things on the baggage counter.

Its a fully air conditioned restaurant. Currently, they are allowing 50 people in a slot. Please note there is no washroom. If you need you should come down in the basement. The toilet is beside of Biswa Bangla ticket counter.

Biswa Bangla gate restaurant menu and Curio shop

In the Kolkata gate hanging restaurant, there are several photographs of the Bengal culture and heritage. You can find a small restaurant, operated by Cafe Ekante and a small curio shop.
Coffee 30 rupees per cup, prawn cutlet 1 pc. 60 rupees, cheese puff 50 rupees, pineapple pastry 70 rupees, etc.

You can buy a souvenir for your family and friends from the curio shop. Souvenir starts from 250 rupees.
