Usri Falls is a waterfall in the Giridih region of Jharkhand, India. The waterfall in Giridih is a well-known travel destination for visitors. Usri means a “beautiful source.” The Usri River is a tributary of the Barakar River that comes down from Parasnath Hill.

The waterfalls are falling from the 40-foot-high hill in three separate streams. The falls are surrounded by thick forest. It is 100 feet wide with stone surfaces. The flow of water is strong and floats on the rocks.
My favourite author, Mr Satyajit Ray, was fond of this place. Satyajit Ray’s one of the best creations of Professor Shonku’s home is in Giridih. Every day, he comes here for a morning walk. Many other creations of Satyajit Ray’s have debuted in Giridih. In his literature, the name of Usri Falls has come up often.
Usri Falls Picnic Spot
The picnic spot of Usri waterfall is a favourite place in Giridih. However, the area is fully crowded during Christmas & New Year.
Don’t forget to climb the watchtower with a wide view of Usri waterfalls.
The state government has taken various initiatives to turn Usri Falls, Khandoli Dam and Parasnath Hill more accessible to tourists.

How to go to Usri Falls
Giridih Station to Usri Falls distance is 14 km by Tundi Road. It is located on National Highway 34, between Dhanbad to Giridih.
The nearest railway station is Giridih; tourists can take a three-wheeler auto-rickshaw taxi/tangas. Buses are easily accessible from the bus stand, which takes travellers to the required destination.
Madhupur to Giridih distance by car is 1 hour 21 minutes. 52.2 km via NH114A. Usri Falls distance from Kolkata by car 5 hours 46 minutes. 305.4 km, via NH19.

My HolidayStory – How I visit
On the second day of our Madhupur Deoghar Trip, we planned to visit Giridih from Madhupur at 8 am.
First, we went to Khandoli Dam & Park. After, I returned to Giridih Station and booked an auto for Usri Falls. The auto fair is 300 rupees.
From Giridih Station, the distance is 14 km. It takes ½ hour to 45 minutes to reach. The calm river water flows down through the mountain slopes into three streams.
After spending half an hour here, I returned to Giridih station by auto. We took a direct passenger train for Madhupur at 2.35 pm. It takes 1 hour to reach Madhupur from Giridih railway station.

Madhupur Tour Plan
We stay in Madhupur for two days. On the first day, we reached Madhupur from Kolkata by Purba Express (8:00 am) from Howrah Station and Reached 10.30 am.
Afterwards, we checked in to the hotel and took a rest. In the evening, we went to Pathrol Kali Mandir. At the time of return, we visited a local church and did some shopping. Lastly, I buy sweets from famous shops.
The next day, we moved from Madhupur to Giridih sightseeing. There are many spots like Khandoli Park, Usri Water Falls, Parasnath Temple, and Jharkhand Dham.
We visited Khandoli Dam and Park and Usri Falls that day. In the afternoon, we returned to Madhupur by a direct passenger train. The next day, we moved to Deoghar.
